Expected Impact

The fact that the European Union makes its various facilities and resources available to the international community for education and research, especially in developing countries, can greatly benefit faculty members, researchers, and library students at various Iranian universities. This project’s book presents new and valuable tips and ideas taken from the public library experience of European countries. We hope that many of the questions and ambiguities that exist in the minds of Iranian managers and librarians about the place of public library service in our 21st-century society can be answered in this book. The strength of the book lies in its reporting of objective experiences based on real data. It is hoped that this work will be welcomed and used to raise awareness of EU programs, strategic plans, and experiences for public libraries. The content of the book will aid in further developing the already extensive programs and activities of public libraries in Iran and thus improve services to our dynamic Iranian society.

The project familiarized Iranian library science professionals with EU public library programs, strategic plans, and experiences. The workshops audiences expressed their interest in Erasmus+ programs. This project increased the level of awareness and knowledge of the audiences about the European Union programs, Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet activities.

In the second workshop in Razavi Khorasan (Mashhad), we had some librarians and from Afghanistan; they expressed an interest in working with Iranian librarians and academicians on joint international projects with the EU. The students paid particular attention to updating existing university LIS syllabi, and they followed the European experiences with interest.
